Too much sun for a coastal redwood tree?

I am growing a bonsai coastal redwood tree from a seedling…I need to have the seedling grow until the trunk is large enough..i was wondering if i could put the seedling under plant lights and keep them on continuously and water and mist a little extra…is this bad for the tree or will it increase its strength and growth rate? Thanks

Coastal redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) is a naturally slow-growing tree. It requires moist, well-drained soil and full sun, but not for longer than 16 hours a day. Most plants require a 6-8 hour period of darkness in order to thrive.
